ஏச்சுப்பேச்சையும்
உன்னைப் போலவே நைந்து போன
உன் சேலையின்
சமீபத்திய கிழிசலையும்
உன் பழைய இருமலையும்
மறைத்துக் கொண்டு
கடிதத்தில் எழுதுகிறாய் -
நலமாக இருப்பதாக.
வாராத தண்ணீருக்கு
வாடி நிற்கும்
வெற்றுக் குடமாய்
தினந்தினம் வேலைக்குப் போராடி
பாதி வயிற்றோடு
கிறுகிறுத்தாலும்
பதிலுக்கு நானும்
எழுதுகிறேன் அம்மா -
நலமாகவே இருப்பதாக.

when i first landed up in chennai in 2001, thats when i was introduced to unclean, small like-a-matchbox type rooms in triplicane mansions.. i met few sincere souls who suffer all the day to get a job and dream for the day when they can ring up their dear ones miles away with good news... i tried to capture their feelings in this kavidhai..
